Volunteering in Kodiak, Alaska: Work Opportunities

Is God calling you to missions?  Today, Christians all over the world are using their vacations from work, their summers out of school, or available personal time to serve in missions in a variety of capacities and for a variety of terms. Retirement provides opportunity for many years of fruitful service. Perhaps you can work a week, a month, or a year. This Web page lists various volunteer and paid positions available at KBM in which you may be called to serve.  If you are interested in any of these positions, or any other opportunity, please contact us at Kodiak Baptist Mission.

Volunteer Receptionist
Kodiak Baptist Mission has always been more than a place of employment. Annie Greig can be witness to that. She and her husband moved to Kodiak just two short years ago. Annie was in search of a way to be involved and stumbled across the receptionist position at KBM. Not knowing really anything about the Mission, she took a step out in faith and applied. Annie and her husband Brian shared their first Thanksgiving away from home circled around a table with a new family; we have all made lasting memories together. Annie and Brian will be having a baby boy in January and we look forward to see how the Lord works through the new adventure He has for them . With this new addition to their lives, Annie is taking on the amazing role of full time mom, leaving an empty seat in our office. As Annie can attest to, some days are long and difficult, but the rewards are better than anything money can buy.

Summer Cook

Throught the summer KBM provides meals for our summer mission teams and Day Camp staff. The summer cook will be responsible for planning menus, purchasing, and supervising kitchen volunteers.

Summer Counselor
KBM is in search of energetic young adults interested in taking a unique opportunity to spend their summer serving in an active ministry in Kodiak.

Summer staffers have the chance to break out of their comfort zone and join many others from around the country interested in changing the lives of a child. These individuals will take on the role of counselor, teacher, student, mentor, friend and confidant. All staff will have to opportunity to serve at the Ouzinkie Mission located in a village near Kodiak and share their talents and abilities. Staff will join in a time of discipleship daily and be encouraged in their journey as a Christ follower. For more information please go to our website at kodiakbaptistmission.org or give us a call at (907)486-4126. We would love to hear from you.

Director of Hospitality
KBM receives well over 100 visitors a summer who come dedicating themselves to God’s purposes and working incredibly hard at this Mission. All they need is a place to lay their head a night. It’s a big job coordinating where everyone will stay and having facilities ready to receive them. We want to do a better job honoring those who come to serve but need some help to get to where we want to be. If you have a gift for hospitality, are really organized and don’t mind getting your hands dirty you may be just the person God’s calling after here.

Maintenance Staff
Can you hold a wrench in one hand and a hammer in the other? Ever had the moniker of jack of all trades thrown your direction? The variety of jobs we end up doing in the name of maintaining this mission is truly amazing and were looking for someone who enjoys this kind of challenge. Right now we have drywall to finish, trim to piece together and a head gasket to change on our International Box Truck. When this is done there will already be a host of interesting new projects to take their place!

Horse Program Manager
KBM is searching for an energetic, outgoing individual to manage our horse program.  Responsibilities include, feeding, facility maintenance, overall care of horses, summer camps, and winter clubs.  If you are interested or would like more information, contact us today!

If you are interested in any of the above ministry opportunities please send this completed
